Knowledge, Perception and Practices of Coronavirus amongst Female Farmers in Nigeria

Coronavirus disease 2019 [1] is an emerging public health problem threatening the life of millions people. Farmers and cultivators in countries like Nigeria are rapidly starting to bear impact pandemic. The study was conducted assess knowledge, perception practices COVID-19 among female farmers. A descriptive cross sectional design used for this study, employing multistage sampling technique recruit respondents. About (39%) respondents fell between 30-39 years with median age 35 years; majorities (56.9%) had attended secondary education (49.2%) were married. More than half (56.4%) into subsistence farming they planted mostly tubers vegetables. (32.3%) them did not believe existence COVID-19. To (43.6%) farmersCOVID-19 perceived as a virus, deadly disease, (12.8%) political means making money (4.6%) high fever just malaria typhoid. Around (34.4%) reported symptoms COVID 19 dry cough, (23.6%) fever, (9%) sneezing (7.3%) difficulty breathing. Also, about (17.9%) that spreads through handshaking, (16.9%) droplets (sneezing coughing), (3.1%) airborne (20%) don’t know how spreads. With regards practice, (25.6%) wash their hands 4 6 times per day 5(2.6%) rarely washed hands, (28.2%) always wore facemask (36.4%) alcohol based sanitizer. There statistical association age, level farmers (P < 0.005).Also, found 0.005). revealed poor knowledge COVID-19, which affects adherence hygiene. Since majority (73.3%) sourced information from radios/televisions, more awareness should be made these platforms especially using local dialect.
